MINUTES: D.R.Y.L. Meeting, Westville PBA 10/04/2005

 

OPENING:

Pres. Bocock opened the meeting at 2015 hours with the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

A moment of silence was observed as the result of the death of Louise Rodgers, Rear Commodore, West End YC.

The League was welcomed to WPBA by the Rear Commodore Jay Franklin.

Roll call of officers and committee heads: Officers, all present. All Comm. Hds present except Mike Kovacs, Safety.

Roll call of clubs and/or associations: Representatives from 32 member clubs were present. Absent clubs included Capitol City, Columbus, Del. River Rats, Paulsboro Sportsmen, Red Dragon CC and Salem.

Paulsboro Sportsmens Assn. has not been present at any meeting in the year 2005.

Approval of the Minutes: The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted with corrections.

Officers and Committee Reports:

Officer Reports:

1st VP Jusino mentioned that Poker Run tee shirts are available;

3rd VP Gricco reported on the Von Nieda picnic he thanked Riverside YC for their support of this event including all of the volunteers who helped to make the event a success, also see Picnic section.

Audit and Budget: None

Banquet: February 26, 2006

Boater Voter Coalition: Jerry Donofrio mentioned the Off Shore racing scheduled on the Delaware River, October 09 beginning at 12n between the Ben Franklin and Walt Whitman bridges.

C.B.Y.C.A:

Jerry Donofrio mentioned the availability of boating infra-structure monies being available for transient boating facilities. A New Jersey legislative director is needed.

Cruise: No report.

Fleet Surgeon:

Doc. Borgersen mentioned the value of flu shots and suggested that everyone over 55 receive a shot. The vaccine is available.

Marine Legislation,

National(NBF): Next meeting in Michigan City IN.

New Jersey: No report. Next meeting at Bordentown YC, see Barrie Borman for details.

Pennsylvania Boating Assoc./PBA(se): PBAse meeting on Nov.16th@ Delaware River YC.

 

Pageant: John Maloney for Toni Nespola(Toni is on maternity leave); the Pageant report will be available at the next League meeting.

 

Picnic: Butch Gricco reporting on the Von Nieda picnic. 570 persons attended, including 9 princesses, 3 past Queens, 7 past princesses and children; 23 member clubs attended. A profit of $1,862.19 was realized.

Public Affairs: No report.

Regatta: No report.

 

Shoreline Planning:

Safety: No report.

 

Yearbook:

June Donofrio reporting 2006 yearbook club pages will be discounted($125.00 vice $150.00) if submitted prior to Feb., 06 meeting. 2006 yearbook cover competition at next League meeting @ National Pk. BC.

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Oil spill, further discussions were held.

Discussed VX diluted nerve gas dumping, many letters have been sent opposing this action.

Efforts continue regarding the rescheduling of League meeting calendar.

 

A long discussion was held, led by Bob Williams, HLYC and J. Donofrio, BVC, concerning the delivery of Lqd.Nat.Gas to the local area. The recent meeting in Bridesburg has raised the public’s awareness. The issues involve the large exclusionary zone created during the delivery phase of the LNG; the off-loading of the LNG, the cost of security; etc. More to follow.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Mr. R.. Grace, Treasurer announced his retirement immediately. Mr. J. Campbell was appointed as interim Treasurer.

Mr. J. Campbell announced his retirement as Banquet Coordinator as of the next banquet, Feb. 26, 2006.

GOOD AND WELFARE

Several club closing were announced including Bristol & Neshaminy, Oct. 15 @ 2p; Farragut, Oct. 11 @ 1p; Ran Del Oct. 08th., Riverside Marina @ 1p.
