Riverside Yacht Club
MINUTES:
D.R.Y.L. Meeting, Riverside YC. September
05, 2006
OPENING:
Pres. Jusino opened the meeting at 2000 hours with the
pledge of allegiance to the flag. The
League was welcomed to Riverside YC by Commodore Ron Hammer, he introduced the
RYC members who assisted in the preparations for the League meeting, the
members present appreciated the food available.
Ms
Sarah Whitney spoke about PA Sea Grant. This
program is directed towards the recreational boating public in order to show
them how to have better water to boat in. In 2007 there will be incentives to
boat/yacht clubs to promote this plan, bilge socks will be distributed to
participating organizations.

note: The following member clubs have missed at least three consecutive League
meetings Columbia YC , Delaware Valley Y. B., Florence Twp.; , and
Salem Boat Cl. Philadelphia and Salem clubs have not attended any
meetings in 2006.

President Jusino mentioned the article in the Noreaster mentioning the

QUEEN OF THE CHESAPEAKE PAGEANT"
[Correction from original] Queens Pageant; he and a small contingent of princesses attended the
Burlington Decorated Boat Parade, Mike
Kovacs w/ Yapewi AC was awarded second place.
Bob Grace, former Treasurer, has had cardiac surgery.

Pageant: Toni Nespola reporting,
attending princesses were introduced. Discussed
the days events; Liberty Sailing Club location was used for Princess lunch;
results of pageant include, Miss DRYL:
J. Andruscko, Nesh. YC; 1st. Runner-up- Dana Johns, Briston YC; 2nd
Runner-up- Annie Friars, NPBC, Miss Congeniality Erin Maloney; list of raffle
tx winner was read as were the list of other awards including best club dec.;
best of fleet; largest club fleet, etc.
Picnic:
Butch Gricco reporting: date for picnic is September 09, 2006, advance
ticket price is $15.00, at the door $20.00, children 10-16, $10.00.
Docking space @ Harbor Light & Riverside fully booked, space @ West
End available. 6 nominations for
King of the River have been received, attending princesses will decide on
winner.
Public
Affairs:
Bill Garwood reported that contact has been made with the Sierra Club,
an environmental group regarding the proposed dumping of neutralized VX nerve
gas into the Delaware River. No
specific response at this time.
Byron
Campbell, Web master suggested that the League should seek a Photographer in
order to have a consistent flow of photos
for use on the web site and in the year book
Regatta: Fred Saunders reporting, 2007
PRR will be held on the last Saturday in July.
Shoreline
Planning:
No report
Safety:
Ron Blackeby mentioned that non-boating months are a great time to take
boating safety courses.
Yearbook: No report.

BUSINESS
Comments were made concerning the LNG pipe line construction and usage.
NEW
BUSINESS:

A motion was made, seconded and approved to pay the Stein, the Florists
bill for a fruit basket sent to Bob Grace with best wishes for a speedy
recovery from surgery.

Motions were made, seconded and approved to pay expenses for the
Pageant, the Picnic, a new adding machine and DRYL pins.

A comment was made by a representative from Racoon BC concerning an oil
spill which went untended to for a long period of time leading to a larger
than expected dispersal pattern.

Genna
Andrusko mentioned that a past comm.( John Plotts) of NPBC has been injured( a
broken hip).
