MINUTES: D.R.Y.L. Meeting, Harbor Light Y.C. July 11, 02,æ06

 

OPENING: Pres. Jusino opened the meeting at 2010 hours with the pledge of allegiance to the flag.  The  League was welcomed to Harbor Light YC. 

Roll call of officers and committee heads:  Officers, all present except Fin. Sec. Mike Kovacs.  All Comm. Hds present except, NJ Legislation, Jerry Donofrio(excÆd), National Legisl., Bob Bocock(excÆd), Cruise, Bob Rupinski, public affairs.

Roll call of clubs and/or associations: Representatives from28 member clubs  were present, three excÆd.  Absent clubs: Antique$Classic Boat Assn., Boater Voter, Bridesburg, Columbus C.C, CBYCA, Florence Twp., Happy Hour, Philadelphia and Salem. 

EditorÆs note: Salem Boat Cl. has missed 7 consecutive meetings æ06  and Philadelphia YC has missed 4 consecutive meetings in æ06 

Approval of the Minutes:  The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as printed.

Officers and Committee Reports: 

Officer Reports:  President Jusino mentioned he attended the Farragut SA. opening day, great event;  Secretary Garwood distributed all Certificates of  Insurance to appropriate committees,  the secretary will hold the certificates for the monthly membership meetings.  Chaplain Garwood announced that Mr. Ron Small was involved in an accident, he suffered a broken back and a long time past member of Ran Del Y.C., Mr.J. McCumas recently passed away and that prayers should be said for these persons. 

Audit  and Budget: No report.

Banquet: Date February, 2007.   

Boater Voter Coalition:  No report.   

C.B.Y.C.A:  No report.     

Cruise:  Three openings are available see Bob Bocock for application and the complete itinerary. 

Fleet Surgeon: Harry (Doc) Borgersen reporting on chocolate.  The dark version is the best it contains antioxidants and other helpful ingredients 

Marine Legislation,

     National(NBF): New Jersey: (submitted by J. Donofrio but not read) proposed state bill A1953 requires                           liability insurance for certain vessels in the amount of $100K or $200K, this bill has been through the assembly and will be introduced into the House. Pennsylvania Boating Assoc./PBA(se): R. Beers mentioned that the latest, 2005,boating accident reports indicated a large increase in fatalities in the Commonwealth including the local event on the Neshaminany Creek were a speeding boat crashed into a bridge structure.  Rails to Trails progress includes the funding $s received for the Bridesburg portion.

Pageant: Toni Nespola reporting, attending  princesses were introduced.  Aug. events for princesses were mentioned.  No docking reservations will be considered after Saturday, July 15th.

Picnic:  Butch Gricco reporting: date for picnic is September 09, 2006, advance ticket price is $15.00 at the door $20.00, children 10-16, $10.00.

Public Affairs:  No report. 

Regatta: Fred Saunders reporting, the date for the poker run regatta is Saturday,  July 29th, 2006. Flyers were distributed.  Starting locations will be @ Farragut SA, West End BC and Bristol YC(continential breakfast available.  Cost per hand is $20.00 includes picnic at the finish-line, FSA on or after 3p.

Shoreline Planning:No report

Safety:  Ron Blackeby:  NJ Boating Advisory Board meeting @ Toms River YC, New Jersey.  See Ron for details.

Yearbook: Barb. Gricco mentioned that the  re structured Year Book Comm. has met and will be meeting again in July at HLYC, interested persons should contact Ms Gricco.

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS None

 

NEW BUSINESS

o. Secretary Garwood introduced a motion that the LeagueÆs NBF representative be reimbursed by the League for his expenses to attend the next meeting to be held in Portsmouth, VA (Oct., æ06).  There was no indication of  $ amounts needed.  After a long discussion, the motion was tabled until more information is available.

o.  A motion was made, seconded and approved.to approve payments for the Pageant Comm.

o.  The ôAwards Comm.ö suggested that the Del. River Sailing School submit an official request for previousily requested financial aid. 

 

GOOD AND WELFARE

o.  Many League events were mentioned, see year book/web site for details.

 

FINANCIAL REPORTS     

 A motion was made, seconded and approved to pay the bills.

 

CLOSING:  A motion was made, seconded and approved to adjourn meeting @ approx. 2200 hours.
