MINUTES - D.R.Y.L. Meeting hosted by Riverside Yacht Club on September 4, 2007

OPENING: Meeting called to order @ 8:04pm. President Jusino introduced Rear Commodore, Al Mariotti, who welcomed the DRYL to Riverside.

ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: All present.

ROLL CALL OF COMMITTEE HEADS/ORGANIZATIONS: All present except Toni Nespola, Bill Garwood, Fred Saunders and Bryon Campbell.

ROLL CALL OF CLUBS: 30 clubs present

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes were accepted, as published.

OFFICERS & COMMITTEE REPORTS

President: President Jusino commented on the great weather over the weekend.

1st Vice President: John Maloney – mentioned that he got his boat off the dock this year and has pictures to prove it.

2nd Vice President: Butch Gricco – Thanked everyone who helped with the pageant.

3rd Vice President: Steve Zielinski – no report.

Secretary: Rick Patton – no report.

Audit & Budget: Bill Branchide – no report.

Banquet: Mary Jusino – no report.

Cruise: Any suggestions for next year will be gladly accepted. Doc suggested Wellwood and North Point Marina.

Donations – no report.

Fleet Surgeon: Doc - no report

NJ Legislation: John Honer – no report.

Pageant: Report given by John Maloney who introduced the new DRYL Queen, Leanne Bird. Leanne commented on the newness of being appointed Queen of the DRYL and hoped that everyone would be attending the picnic. Leanne introduced the attending princesses. John reported 93 boats at the pageant and 14 princesses. Miss Congeniality went to Anna Friars and Erin Maloney. Second Runner up is Stephanie Zielinski and first runner up is Anna Friars. John mentioned that Toni wanted to thank everyone who participated and especially those who helped. Juice thanked those who showed up for the honor guard. Denise Leo mentioned how nice the pageant is run, but suggested uniform dress code for pageant participants especially for those who are on stage. Juice agreed and this will be enforced next year.

Picnic: Joe Gricco – Picnic is September 8th. DJ from 6-10pm. T-shirts will be available for purchase. Two flat screen TVs for prizes. Kid’s games and competitions will begin at 3pm. Beer and soda will be served at the picnic. No coolers to be brought onto picnic grounds. Friday arrivals should be in before dark. Use VHF channel 68. Saturday arrivals must be in by 1pm. Some tickets are still available. Call Barb. Attendants will direct those arriving by car.

Public Affairs: Bill Garwood – no report.

Regatta: Fred Saunders – no report.

Safety: Ron Blackeby – Distributed a flyer about false "May Days" and that fines and/or prison time will be evoked. May Day calls are for emergency only.

Shoreline Planning: Joe Campbell – no report.

Webmaster: Bryon Campbell – no report. Juice mentioned that Bryon just received a pacemaker.

Yearbook: no report. Bill Broadwater mentioned to get yearbook cover submissions ready for the November meeting. Prize for the winning cover is $300.

Boater Voter: Joe Campbell - Send letters to your senators and legislators concerning the gray water discharge laws. Joe also spoke about a move to get boating IDs.

CBYCA: Bob Williams – no report.

National Boating Federation (NBF): Bob Williams – Annual meeting is the first week in October in Texas and Bob will be attending and will reference the lemon law and gray water issues.

Pennsylvania Boating Association - SE (PBA): Rex Beers – next meeting September 19th at Anchor Yacht Club.

Juice spoke about Sea Grant wanting to add DRYL to their list of supporters. Motion was approved.

 A motion was made, seconded and approved to pay the bills.

GOOD AND WELFARE

River Ramble at West End – 3 days – many events – September 14-16.

Pirates Ball at West end – September 14 – call Denise Leo

Yapewi is stuffed cabbage dinner – September 29 at 6pm

Leanne announced a walk for the American Heart Association – September 16

Riverside Crab Fest – September 22

John Honer won the 50/50 in the amount of $60

Brought to the attention of the meeting that at pageant there were people out of line. If this behavior happens again, charges will be brought against the person and the club they belong to or were a guest of

CLOSING: A motion was made, seconded and approved to adjourn the meeting at 9:01pm
