MINUTES D.R.Y.L. Meeting hosted by Anchor Yacht Club on May 1, 2007

OPENING: President Jusino opened the meeting @ 8:07pm and introduced Anchor Yacht Club’s Commodore, Jim Morrisey, who welcomed and thanked everyone for attending.

ROLL CALL OF CLUBS: 34 clubs present

ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: All present except 3rd Vice President, Steve Zielinski

ROLL CALL OF COMMITTEE HEADS/ORGANIZATIONS: All present except Audit & Budget, Bill Branchide (who is in the hospital) and Pageant (co-chair, Joe Gricco, and Picnic, Joe Gricco ( Barb gave report ).

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes amended and accepted.

OFFICERS & COMMITTEE REPORTS

President: President Jusino announced delivery of 2007 yearbooks and thanked everyone who had a part in making it happen. Juice also mentioned events he attended, particularly Brian and Colleen Sproul’s wedding and Harbor Light Yacht Club Installation.

1st Vice President: John Maloney – no report.

2nd Vice President: Butch Gricco – Looking forward to the many opening days coming up.

3rd Vice President: Steve Zielinski – absent/no report.

Secretary: Rick Patton – Paperwork was received from Riverwinds YC for application to join DRYL

Audit & Budget: Bill Branchide – absent/no report.

Banquet: Mary Jusino – no report.

Cruise: Bob Grace – some openings still available. Applications available from Bob or on DRYL website. Itinerary is posted on website. Cruise will begin 7/14 at Summit North.

Herb Stone Fund – On hold

Fleet Surgeon: Doc Harry – have children immunized for infectious diseases, especially those in school athletics and more so those in sports that involve close contact with others.

NJ Legislation: John Honer – no report.

Pageant: Toni Nespola – acknowledged attending princesses – Erin, Harbor Light YC, Ashley, QCYC and Jessica, Yapewi. Currently have 9 princesses competing for DRYL Queen. First meeting is Sunday, May20th at Wissinoming YC @ 1pm is for public speaking training. Prospective princesses are invited to attend meetings to get an insight on what it is like to become a club princess, obligation. Raffle tickets are available. Please sell tickets as it helps defray cost of pageant. Pageant theme is "the 70s". Pageant information and meeting schedule are on DRYL website.

Picnic: Barb Gricco – Picnic will be September 8th at Riverside YC from 12:30 – 6:00pm. After 6:00pm there will be a DJ. King of the River nominations must be in by August meeting. There will be no tickets sold at the door this year. Picnic Committee is looking for donations of stuffed animals for children’s table.

Public Affairs: Bill Garwood - no report.

Regatta: Fred Saunders – Poker Run is July 28th – applications are available on website.

Safety: Ron Blackeby – PWCs and kids – use shut off lanyard; cannot operate PWC without safe boating license (minimum 16 years old). All boating laws apply to PWCs – operate safely.

Shoreline Planning: Joe Campbell – no report.

Webmaster: Bryon Campbell – Website now offers classified ads - $5 per month. Look for old yearbooks being reproduced on website as well as list of burgees.

Yearbook: Juice – Yearbooks have been distributed. Still looking for payment from a few organizations. Final report on yearbook profit at the June meeting (looks like in excess of $5000). Juice thanked Bill Broadwater for his contribution to the completion of the yearbook.

Boater Voter: No report

CBYCA: Bob Williams – CBYCA Roster Books have been distributed. If you didn’t receive yours, see Bob Williams. CBYCA has developed position paper on mandatory licensing and suggests DRYL do the same. National Boating Federation (NBF): Bob Williams – next meeting in Texas.

Pennsylvania Boating Association - SE (PBA): Rex Beers – Meeting in Harrisburg coming up to review boating laws – i.e.: mandatory education, PA statistics, new license category for duck boats. Bristol Grant – plans underway for Bristol Wharf area. Rails to Trails making map of river trail. Get your club on the map. Lots of legislation in process. Game commission meeting is Tuesday, May 15th at West End YC.

Pennsylvania Boating Association – State: Bill Garwood – reports that less than 2% of registered PA boaters have current license. Courses are available.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

NEW BUSINESS

July meeting will be July 3rd at Quaker City YC.
