MINUTES: D.R.Y.L. Meeting,

Yapewi Aquatic Club 01/03/2006

 

OPENING:

Pres. Jusino opened the meeting at 2010 hours with the pledge of allegiance to the flag. The League was welcomed to Yapewi by Vice Commodore Tom Kelly, Comm. pinch-hitting for Comm. Mike Kovacs who is recovering from surgery.

Roll call of officers and committee heads: Officers, all present except Treasurer Phyllis Blackeby, excused, Mike Kovacs Financial Secretary, excused. Joe Campbell and 1st VP served as acting Financial Secretary and Treasurer; All Comm. Hds present except Barry Borman, NJ Legislation, Rex Beers, PA Legislation, Fred Saunders, Regatta and Mike Kovacs, Saftey(excd).

Roll call of clubs and/or associations: Representatives from 38 member clubs were present. Absent clubs included Antique & Classic Boat, Bridesburg, Capitol City, Columbus, Edgely, Paulsboro Sportsmen, Philadelphia, Tri-state and Salem.

[Editors note: Columbus CC has 5 consecutive absences(4 in Ô05, 1 in ‘06); Salem Boat Cl. has missed 4 consecutive meetings(3 in ‘05, 1 in ‘06) and Paulsboro Sportsmen’s Assn. and has not been present at any meeting in the year ‘05.]

Approval of the Minutes: The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as printed.

Officers and Committee Reports:

Officer Reports: President-.

Mary Jusino and Colleen Maloney have been confirmed as the co-chairs for the banquet committee.;

1st. VP Maloney reported the death of a PA YC member Fred Moekel, a moment of silence was observed;

Secretary Garwood mentioned that he has spoken to Mike Kovacs, Treas., he is recovering nicely from cardiac surgery.

Audit and Budget: None

Banquet: Mary Jusino & Colleen Maloney; Details for the Feb., 06 banquet Cannstatters. Schedule: cocktails 6--7p; dinner 7p; ceremonies 8p; live music & dancing till 12m. Price $42.00 per person. Menu includes prime rib of beef, flounder stuffed with crab meat, league provided beverages beer, wine and soft drinks, mixed drinks not included. Txs need to be picked up. Doc Borgersen suggested at instead of a served desert that a sweet table be provided.

Boater Voter Coalition:

C.B.Y.C.A: Jerry Donofrio mentioned that there will be a booth at the Baltimore Boat Show, Jan 21st.-28th. advertising the CBYCA. John Garlotta mentioned that dues is now due and payable also roster book inputs are due.

Cruise: Bob Bocock reporting--distance between stopovers will be kept at a minimun due to the high cost of fuel. The fleet will be limited to fifteen boats.

 

Fleet Surgeon: Harry (Doc) Borgersen stay healthy.

Marine Legislation,

National(NBF): Jerry Donofrio reporting: second home (a boat) mortgage interest as a federal income tax deduction is being considered for elimination. Recommended contacting the White House @ 202 456 1414

 

New Jersey: No report. Please note: Barry Borman in hospital

 

Pennsylvania Boating Assoc./PBA(se): will attend the Fort Washington PA Expo Ctr. for a Sportsmens show.

 

Pageant: Toni Nespola reporting on the ‘06 Pageant is scheduled Aug. 12th., ‘06 at Phila. Marine Center & Independence Seaport Museum

Picnic: Butch Gricco reporting: event scheduled for Sept. 09, ‘06 a Riverside YC, more later.

Public Affairs:

Web Master, Byron Campbell The site has been closed down. A new company is needed to sponsor the site

Regatta: No report.

Shoreline Planning: Jerry Donofrio reported that discussions have been held concerning brown fields along the Cooper River the discussions also include green ways.

 

Safety: No report. Please note M.Kovacs recupperating from cardiac surgery

Yearbook: June Donofrio reporting. June reported that approx. 1/3 of the member clubs have submitted club pages last chance 02/ 06 at PaYC. Commercial ads are due no later than Mar., ‘06 for direct use. Fleet pages are welcomed.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

League awards-Person of the Year and Club of the Year voting took place.

o. Discussion regarding LNG facilities. Issues continue, no specific information.

NEW BUSINESS

o. Discussed the closing of the web site. Authorized Bryon C. to begin looking for new site using $150.00 for this activity.

o. Discussed application of Camden City YC as member club. President Jusino appointed W.Garwood, Sec., 1st VP, John Maloney, 2nd VP Brian Sproul and 3rd VP Dennis Hart as the visitation committee to set up visit with John Honer, Comm. CCYC. CCYC meets on the last wednesday of the month.

o. Approved motions to provide funds for picnic and queens pageant $1000.00 and $550.00 respectively.

o. Approved purchase of disposable cameras for use at banquet.

o. Approved placing ad in Anchor YC 100th anniversary booklet.

GOOD AND WELFARE

FINANCIAL REPORTS

A motion was made, seconded and approved to approve the financial report as read and pay the bills.
