MINUTES - D.R.Y.L. Meeting hosted by Harbor Light Yacht Club on August 7, 2007

OPENING: Meeting called to order @ 8:00pm. President Jusino asked for a moment of silence for Amysue Clifford, daughter of Rex and Shelly Beers, and for John Hutchins, King of the River. Commodore Lou Schieb introduced his officers and thanked the DRYL for attending.

ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: All present.

ROLL CALL OF CLUBS: 35 clubs present

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes were corrected and accepted.

OFFICERS & COMMITTEE REPORTS

President: President Jusino thanked Bob and Mary Grace for a successful cruise. He also mentioned that the Poker Run went well. Juice reminded the clubs that he is looking for two officers from each club in full uniform for the Honor Guard.

1st Vice President: John Maloney – no report.

2nd Vice President: Butch Gricco – Thanked Bob and Mary Grace for running the DRYL cruise.

3rd Vice President: Steve Zielinski – no report.

Secretary: Rick Patton – no report.

Audit & Budget: Bill Branchide – no report.

Banquet: Mary Jusino – no report.

Cruise: Bob Grace reported that the cruise was from 7/14 to 7/21. There were 14 boats representing 5 clubs. Bob reviewed the cruise itinerary and the events that took place and reported that all went well with no real problems.

Donations – no report.

Fleet Surgeon: Doc Harry mentioned sturgeon in Florida waters causing injuries.

NJ Legislation: John Honer – trying to get a meeting with Rob Andrews to discuss pending legislative issues.

Pageant: Toni Nespola – acknowledged the many attending princesses. Pageant is this coming Saturday, August 11 and the pageant day itinerary was reviewed. Toni suggested decorating your boat. Boats will begin to arrive at 9am. Juding will begin at 1pm. Pageant will begin at 5pm. See Barb Gricco for buttons, shirts and program books. Please continue to sell raffle tickets. Docking packets were distributed and Juice gave brief instructions on docking. (14 clubs will be bringing in boats.)

Picnic: Joe Gricco – Picnic is September 8th. Docking reservations are due tonight. King of the River nominations also due tonight. Available tickets are low. No tickets will be sold at the door. Ed Kalesnik is the Dockmaster at Riverside. When you come in, have your docking lines and fenders ready. Anyone docking at Harbor Light must be in by 11:30am and at Riverside by 1pm.

Public Affairs: Bill Garwood – spoke about VX gas. Article in Philadelphia Inquirer concerning trucking VX gas to Texas.

Regatta: Fred Saunders – gave report on Poker Run. Poker Run had 301 hands played…almost $5000 in prize money. Winning hand was 4 Jacks and paid $2394; second prize was $1197; third prize was $599; and fourth and fifth received $299 each. Prizes were awarded at the picnic immediately following event at Farragut Sportmen’s Association.

Safety: Ron Blackeby – Distributed a flyer on how to prepare your boat and club against storms and/or hurricanes.

Shoreline Planning: Joe Campbell – no report.

Webmaster: Bryon Campbell – no report.

Yearbook: no report.

Boater Voter: Send letters to your senators and legislators concerning the gray water discharge laws.

CBYCA: Bob Williams – no report.

National Boating Federation (NBF): Bob Williams – stated Legislative Director, Earl Wassey, formed a committee to address the gray water discharge law to get ruling reversed to exempt recreational boats.

Pennsylvania Boating Association - SE (PBA): Rex Beers – next meeting September 19th at Anchor Yacht Club.

Pennsylvania Boating Association – State – Bob Williams addressed lemon law letters.

Red Dragon Canoe Club thanked princesses for attending Fourth of July picnic and also thanked Harbor Light YC for their assistance to one of their members.
