Dear Commodore,
This past weekend I was bringing up from Kent Island, a new to me 1983 Silverton 34C. At 11:00 am near the Bohemia River, we struck a submerged object which damaged the props. I called ahead to Bristol Yacht Club, which was our final destination, to let them know that we would not be there that day. About an hour later I received a call from Jim Bayer, a member of BYC, informing me that a call was placed to you club looking for help.
I was instructed to head to Harbor Lights Yacht Club where Butch Gricco and another member were waiting to lift the boat and switch out the damaged props. Even though it was Sunday and the hour was late, they waited for me to arrive. The switch was made and because of the time, now 5:30 pm and dark, I asked to layover and they graciously assigned me a slip, assisted us in getting tied up and even gave us access to your clubhouse.
I have been a member of Ran-Del Yacht Club for 5 years and BYC for two years, and never before needed the assistance of another club on the river, until now. This is what being a member of a yacht club all is about, helping other yacht clubs in distress.
Butch Gricco is an asset to your club and every other club on the river. I cannot thank you and your club enough for what you did to assist me. I hope that one day I can return the favor.
Sincerely,
Tom Stock
