HAZARDOUS WASTE Plant in Falls Township....
I attended the Town Hall Meeting last night regarding the HAZARDOUS WASTE
Treatment plant being considered in Falls Township. The plant will be 1/2 mile
from The Delaware River and 1/2 From Van Sciver Lake.
An employee from The Elcon Company spoke on how everything
in the world is perfect and how his company was responsible for all the
perfection and how all their employees walk on water - LOL - well, you get my point.
Two reps from The PA DEP also spoke on the permit process. No one from Falls
Township was present and I found that very weird that no political figures or
reps from the Borough were not there. The PA DEP explained that this is the
first phase of what could be a 10-12 month process before a permit is given.
Once the permit is given the plant could up and running in 10 months. There was
concern of wetlands which The PA DEP is awaiting a report from The Army Corps
of Engineers, there was concerns about bringing HAZARDOUS WASTE into the
community by trucks ( 17 per day ) or / and by railway, and a major concern was
air pollution which was pushed aside as The PA DEP says that is in Phase II and
COULD possibly be addressed IF there was another Town Hall Meeting but there
was NO Guarantee that one will be scheduled. The PA DEP will be taking written
comments until December 26th so I plead with you to please ask your club
members, your club, your family and friends to send a comment stating your
concerns with issues of air quality, the wetlands, the possible effects on the
watershed, possible HAZARDOUS WASTE spills during transporting of said waste to
the plant as well as malfunction spills at the plant. If enough concern is
shown it is possible that this will be rejected, but it will at least possibly
assure another discussion on the air pollution. You can send emails comments
