The Making of The Kickin Back At The Princess Shack

2012 DRYL Queen’s Pageant Best Of Fleet – RWYC Kickin’ Back

Captain Jim DeMarco

For those wondering what it takes to be awarded ‘ Best Of Fleet ‘ at the Queens Pageant – here is an inside look.  Please note that this entire structure was built on the dock at the basin on Saturday morning at the Pageant, from the gluing of the shingles to the roof top, to the building / framing of the roof, front, and the roof porch.  Please check out the attention to detail of the stone work of the chimney, the grain of the wood on the front and the shingles – all cardboard and paint!!  After it was all said and done, they used a smoke machine to the pump smoke up and out the chimney.  Add a rocking chair, a country hick, a beautiful Princess, a couple cute country girls, and a couple other cool items to the front porch and you have yourself a best of fleet decorated boat.  Jim and his son Jim Jr. deserve a lot of credit for another successful year decorating their boat.  Seems each year they just get better than the year before – what is in store for us next year?

Pretty cool huh ??  The judges saw it and were in love with it right away – this was a standout in all 3 judges minds and all agreed it was The Best Of Fleet from the get go - the others were all discussed but this was a clear cut winner to them, as did almost everyone who walked by.

The DeMarco’s are not a flash in the pan – check out what they have done at past pageants, a pirate ship w/ firing cannon and a Nawlens Bourbon Street Blues Hall.
