The 2011 Annual D. R. Y. L. Poker Run

The Annual DRYL Bud Koch Poker Run held on
Saturday July 9th.It was a bright & sunny day which made
for one hellava boating day! One person who had a better time than
all of us was Bill Tillett from WEBC who won $2350 !!! Not a bad day for him huh?A few others who made some money and enjoyed the day was Brian Sproul from FSA won $1175, Mary Bellini from NHYC won $587
and Jeff Sweeney from NHYC and Mary Mucciarelli from Bord YC won $295 each. The $200 Loser's Pool went to Scott
Lynch from DRYC.
I want to send out thanks to Mark
Brasberger ( DRYL 2nd VP / Regatta Chairperson ) for
all his help and to all the clubs who were stops along the Run... Bristol YC,
Penns YC, Quaker City YC, Wiss YC, Bridesburg OC, Farragut SA, West End BC,
Riverside YC, Harbor Light, and National Park BC.
I know we had a lot of help out there,
dealers, cookers, dockers and tenders - just too add many to list, but I want
to send out a couple kudos if I may ...
Brian, Stella, Harry O and Bruce from FSA,
George from WYC, Leona and my wife Mary from NHYC, Doc Harry and Bonnie along
with their kitchen crewfrom BYC - like
I said, I know we had a lot of help Saturday, but these people are always there
for us every year....
Now ... I know I have told you all about
the Breakfast Buffet that Doc & Bonnie put out for us each year but this year they
were over the top ... many thanks to the BYC Kitchen Crew who cooked and served
us French Toast, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Ham, Canadian Bacon,
Hash Browns, Toast & Butter, Cereal, Danish, Pop Tarts, Donuts, Bagels,
Fresh Fruit Salad, Cinnamon Buns, Fresh Fruit, Breakfast Bars, Cakes &
Muffins, Coffee, Juice, Tea, Water, Soda, Mimosa's, Bloody Mary's - I probably missed a few items that
were served but you get the idea - it was a true feast - that was for sure -
they fed the 160 Poker Run starters and the Bristol YC members who came out -
Bonnie said she thinks they more than likely served over a couple hundred
people - I know I found it hard to leave the clubhouse after I had French Toast
and bacon w/ warmed syrup and butter which is my FAVORITE meal for breakfast - I was ready for a
nap after that !! LOL
Now for the numbers.... we had 30 players
start from the south at West End BC ( this number has been
growing every year ), 82 started at Farragut SA and 160 started ( and ate very
well ) at Bristol YC for a total of 272 players. So, the DRYL Delegates have
$272 for give to a charity / organization this year as $1 from each hand goes
to this fund.
I hope that if you attended - you enjoyed
the good time. If you missed it - I hope you plan on coming out
next year. We will be making a change or two next year which
will only make it more fun for everyone and produce more winners ... again,
thanks to ALL who helped and came out to play!!
