Announces the 2009 July 4th
Invitational DRSS and DRYL Regatta

General
Information: The
Red Dragon Canoe Club hereby issues a special invitation to the member clubs of
the Delaware River Yachtsmen’s League, and the Delaware River Sailing School,
to join us and participate in the Red Dragon’s Annual Ingo Stephan Memorial Day
Regatta. An annual special public wreath ceremony will follow the race’s
conclusion at the Club’s waterfront at 3:00pm to honor and remember our
nation’s war casualties. Race participants, friends, and the public are invited
to attend this ceremony and honor our deceased countrymen and women.
1. Rules: The regatta will be governed by the 2009-2012 Racing Rules
of Sailing, The US SAILING prescription, except as any of these are altered by
the sailing instructions.

Advertising:
The regatta is designated Category A in accordance with Appendix G of
the RDCC Racing Rules of Sailing.

Eligibility and Entry: The
2009 4th of July Race shall be and OPEN EVENT, and
invitations to all Clubs and members organizations of the Delaware River
Yachtsman’s League (DRYL), and the Delaware River Sailing School (DRSS), and
Club member’s vessels, helmsman, or Crew do not need to be members of the Red
Dragon Canoe Club. There will be a $15.00 registration fee charged for each
boat entered in this regatta. This fee covers the cost of the event, and
trophies. An invitation is made to all racers and their families and crew to join the Red Dragon’s annual 4th of
July Picnic, which begins at 3:00pm, but requires advanced registration
to help the picnic planners. Individual class ribbons will be awarded to 1st,
2nd, and 3rd place winners at the conclusion of the
regatta.

Schedule of Events:
Race registration will take place at the waterfront of the RDCC on July 4th
2009 from 1200hours until 1300 hours. The regatta will begin on July 4th 2009
and 13:30 hours and no race shall start after 3:00pm. The race committee shall
attempt to complete three races in each class for the regatta; however, it
shall be the sole discretion of the race committee to determine the number of
races and classes comprising the regatta. A picnic for advance registered
guests and members will start at 3:00pm and the clubhouse. A separate
announcement details the picnic reservation procedure.
5.
Advance Registration:
There will be no advanced Regatta registration, however, participants are
encouraged to contact the Rear Commodore / Race Committee Captain, Ted Gourley, 609-265-0122, e-mail : mfgourley@comcast.net and indicate their desire to
participate. Picnic reservations does require
advance registration.
6. Regatta Site: Waterfront of the RDCC, 221 Edgewater Ave. Edgewater Park,
NJ
7. Measurement: Measurements will not be required as
this event will be handicapped.
8. Sailing Instructions: Sailing instructions will be provided during the Skippers
meeting at the George Rhawn Boathouse at the
waterfront at 1300 hours on the day of the regatta.
9. Courses: The courses will be outlined in the
sailing instructions.
10. Scoring: Scoring will be Low Point in
Accordance with Appendix A2 of the Racing Rules.
11. Decisions of the Jury: Decisions of the Jury shall be final
in accordance with Rule 70.4(a) of the racing Rules.
