MINUTES - D.R.Y.L. Meeting hosted by Bordentown Yacht Club on June 5, 2007
OPENING: President Jusino called the meeting to order @ 8:03pm. Juice commented on the dinner and introduced Commodore Russo, who welcomed everyone and introduced his officers in attendance.
President Jusino introduced a guest speaker, Paul Russet, from the Watershed Committee of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council who was promoting the water trails project which involves producing maps with public access areas marked as well as points of interest, historical points and facilities available along waterways. The Watershed Committee is working along with the Fish and Game Commission who will most likely be the means of distribution for the maps when completed. They intend to post a Website to list ideas and solicit feedback before going to print. They are funded by grants

ROLL CALL OF COMMITTEE HEADS/ORGANIZATIONS: All present except Joe Gricco, Picnic, Bill Garwood, Public Relations, Fred Saunders, Regatta and Byron Campbell, Webmaster.

OFFICERS & COMMITTEE REPORTS
President: President Jusino thanked all clubs for their hospitality as he has been attending Opening Days and other events. Juice presented bilge socks that were provided by Sarah Whitney from Riverkeepers, as promised. There are many pictures that have accumulated from various clubs and events; if interested, please take what you want while they are available. Juice also mentioned the upcoming Caribbean cruise and listed the itinerary. He also noted that DRYL Queen Jenna went to the Queen of the Chesapeake (CBYCA) pageant with officers and parents and thanks all who participated.
1st Vice President: John Maloney – Gave the names of all those who attended the CBYCA event and thanked them for their support.
2nd Vice President: Butch Gricco – thanked clubs for opening days. Also suggested that everyone should check your insurance policy to make sure you have enough (replacement value) coverage.
3rd Vice President: Steve Zielinski – no report.
Secretary: Rick Patton – no report.
Audit & Budget: Bill Branchide – covered changes in revised budget report and gave copies to delegates.
Banquet: Mary Jusino – no report.
Cruise: Bob Grace – 15 boats representing 5 clubs will be participating in cruise. If interested in cruise, get your name on waiting list in case anyone cancels.
Donations – Nothing new
Fleet Surgeon: Doc Harry – passed out article on benefits of bananas. Mentioned medical articles that appear in magazines and newspaper articles can provide some good information. Considering a diet? See a nutritionist – your insurance may cover a consultation. Still have DRYL sweats and T-shirts for sale.
NJ Legislation: John Honer – next meeting coming up in 3 weeks. They will look at mandatory boat insurance. Not much else happening.
Pageant: Toni Nespola – acknowledged attending princesses – Ashley, BYC, Stephanie, NHYC, Ashley, QCYC and Jessica, YAC. Pageant program book applications de by June 9th. Docking reservations are due by July meeting. Sell pageant shirts and buttons. All forms connected with pageant are due in July. Raffle tickets need to be turned in by August meeting. Pageant theme will be the 70s. Toni gave pageant day itinerary.
Picnic: Report by Barb Gricco – Handed out packet with docking reservations, King of the River nominations, etc. There will be 600 tickets available (500 adult + 100 children). No tickets will be sold at the door. Food will be served until it is gone. Docking assistance will end at 1:30pm.
Public Affairs: Bill Garwood - no report.
Regatta: Fred Saunders – Poker Run is July 28th – applications are available on website.
Safety: Ron Blackeby – Distributed safety "self check" list.
Shoreline Planning: Joe Campbell – no report.
Webmaster: Bryon Campbell – no report.
Yearbook: Juice reported that $1025 in ad fees still needs to be collected. When collected, profit will be $6131.18. Denise Leo will be taking over Yearbook Committee for 2008.
Boater Voter: No report
CBYCA: Bob Williams – no report.
National Boating Federation (NBF): Bob Williams – Ballast water (bilge) will not be able to be discharged overboard via passing of new law which failed to exempt recreational craft. Bill coming up to include recreational boats in program to track all boating traffic. Earl Lacey has been moved to Director and Bob Williams has been moved to Legislative Executive Committee for NBF.
Pennsylvania Boating Association - SE (PBA): Rex Beers – TV crew doing documentary on USS United States. Re-zoning hearing for Sugartree Casino coming up. Kensington Committee met this past Sunday to discuss plans for Riverfront Development (Rails to trails). Many canoe/kayak sojourns are underway on local rivers so beware of them while boating. PA-NJ coming to terms on Delaware River dredging - will probably happen in the next two years.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Committee has yet to attend (but will attend) meeting at Riverwinds YC.
NEW BUSINESS
Pay bills.
Bob Williams brought up the new Senate Bill #538, which deals with lemon laws for boats. Letter sent to boat manufacturers who contend boats are the same as a house and lemon laws would not apply. Motion was made to take position of support with Stuart Greenleaf and Senator Tomlinson and all other legislators that could impact vote. Letter will be posted on Website and letters will be sent to legislators on DRYL position.
FINANCIAL REPORTS
A motion was made, seconded and approved to pay the bills.
