MINUTES - D.R.Y.L. Meeting hosted by Riverside Yacht Club
September 2, 2008
OPENING: Meeting called to order @ 8:05pm. Commodore Don Warrington welcomed the members and thanked the Entertainment Committee for putting out the dinner.

OFFICERS & COMMITTEE REPORTS
President: Juice mentioned that this year’s pageant was the best ever and gave thanks to Toni for a job well done. He also mentioned great job of decorating boats by Riverwinds Yacht Club. Juice handed out a list of pump out stations available along the river. The list will be published on the website.
1st Vice President: John Maloney – no report.
2nd Vice President: Butch Gricco – Thanked everyone for their help at the pageant especially with docking.
3rd Vice President: Steve Zielinski – no report.
Secretary: Rick Patton – Corrections will be made to the August treasurer’s report.
Audit & Budget: Bill Branchide – no report.
Banquet: Mary Jusino – no report.
Cruise: Bob Grace – no report.
Donations – no requests.
Fleet Surgeon: Harry Borgersen – Doc
spoke about taking aspirins. He
mentioned that taking aspirin was good especially as you get older, but may
cause gastrointestinal bleeding. Doc
suggests that the less medications you take the better…but, take them if you
need them. Doc also talked about the
cost involved in becoming a doctor these days and suggested a way for anyone
interested in this profession as a career path to think about joining the
military. The government covers all
expenses and the pay back to the government is by serving in the military a
time equal to the time spent training.
Pageant: Toni Nespola – Toni introduced the new Queen as well as the princesses in attendance. She mentioned 92 boats were present at the pageant. Toni reviewed the winners of the decorated boat contest as well as the winners of the raffle tickets. 12 contestants competed and a string band performed during intermission. There was a three-way tie for Miss Congeniality; second runner up was Princess Sommer from Bristol Yacht Club; first runner up was Princess Anna from National Park; and the Queen is Siobhan Sullivan from Westville Power Boat Association. Toni reviewed Siobhan application and talents. Siobhan spoke to the group and said she is looking forward to the upcoming year’s events. Toni thanked everyone who helped to make the pageant such a successful event. T-shirts are left for $7 each. Juice welcomed and congratulated Queen Siobhan.
Picnic: Joe Gricco – This Saturday, September 6th at Riverside YC rain or shine. Joe mentioned that no alcohol could be brought into Riverside. No tickets will be sold at the door. Chinese Auction and 50/50 tickets will be sold. Door prizes will be awarded. Docking to end at 12pm. Please have lines ready. DJ after 6pm. Public Affairs: Bill Garwood – no report.
Regatta: Fred Saunders – no report.
Safe Boating: Frank Gilbert – no report.
Shoreline Planning: Joe Campbell – no report.
Webmaster: Paul Jusino/Ben Lewitt – Nearly 30,000 hits reported on site, which is about 300-400 hits per week. Juice is looking for any input to make the website better.
Yearbook: Denise Leo – no report. Denise Leo has resigned as Yearbook Chairperson. Juice will take over until the position is filled.
Boater Voter: Joe Campbell – no report.
CBYCA: Bob Williams – Kevin Noone is CBYCA Commodore for 2009.
National Boating Federation (NBF): Bob Williams – no report.
NJ Legislation: John Honer – 23 proposed bills still pending. Most outstanding to us is about the insurance legislation.
Pennsylvania Boating Association - SE (PBA): Bill Garwood – no report.

FINANCIAL REPORTS
Checkbook opening balance $12,568.65. Mike Kovacs reported income of $6,173 while Phyllis Blackeby reported disbursements of $5,596.84 resulting in a checkbook closing balance of $12,872.81. A motion was made, seconded and approved to pay the bills.
GOOD AND WELFARE
· First Annual Neshaminy Harbor / PAL cruise for kids on 9/13
· Doc mentioned a trip to Trenton Thunder Ball game by boat. Free docking is available at the ballpark and the tickets are quite reasonable. It’s a nice day out.
· Riverside Yacht Club Crab Feast – 9/20. Must reserve tickets by 9/14
· Happy Hour Rear Commodore, Mark, mentioned incident where Sea Tow would not tow his boat after he blew an engine. The reason Sea Tow gave was because one engine was still running. Mark mentioned this to make people aware of limitations of their contract. Different tow organizations have different policies.
· Quaker City Yacht club is offering CPR course on 9/12 and 9/19 for $15. Make reservation by 9/8.
· Westville Power Boat is having a Crab Feast and Queen’s party on 9/20.
· Phyllis requested that checks being turned in have committee name or club name and phone number on the check so returned checks can be easily followed up.
· 50/50 won by Mark from Happy Hour Yacht Club - $65
CLOSING: A motion was made, seconded and approved to adjourn the meeting at 9:00pm
