In an effort to get more Congressmen and Congresswomen to sign on in support of HR 2550 I am going to purpose a plan that will get us many letters signed and sent to your local Congressmen and Congresswomen. At our next meeting I will be appointing a Delegate to spearhead the printing and disbursement of these form letters (already addressed to local Congressmen and Congresswomen ) to clubs who have upcoming events and ask them to please have these form letters filled out and signed by their guest and members attending the event. Last evening at out NHYC Commodores Banquet I was able to get close to 100 of these from letters filled out and signed by those attending. I will be sending these to PA Congressman Brady and NJ Congressman Smith. I hope I have your support in this matter and more importantly I hope that you ask your guests and members to fill out and sign these form letters at your up-coming events. Below is a letter I sent out to CBYCA Officers in an effort for them to attack our Southern Congressmen and Congresswomen. Thanks for your time - Juice

Good morning and a warm hello to our friends to the south,

I am sending this out regarding HR 2550.  I know The CBYCA, like The DRYL, is doing whatever is possible to get our local Congressman and Congresswomen to support HR 2550.  I would like to share with you a plan that I am working on in hopes of getting the attention of our local Congressmen & Congresswomen to support HR 2550.

We at the DRYL have stressed the importance to our Delegates to please go back to their clubs and ask the members to contact their local Congressman and Congresswomen, and I am sure you have done the same.  Many phone calls have been made, many emails and letters sent out, and doors knocked on,  yet here we are with just 2 Congressman / Congresswoman from Penna, 3 from NJ, 2 from MD and 1 from VA. that have signed up to co-sponsored HR 2550.

As Opening Days, Commodores Installations and club events are quickly coming upon us, there is no better way to collect letters of support for HR 2550 from your club members and guests then to have them filled out by people as they are paying admittance fees to the event / affair.

These form letters will be printed up in advance and should already have the local Congressman or Congresswomen names on them.  All that is required is to have each person print their name, address, phone number, and sign.  A minute or so and they are done.

These letters then can be mailed in groups of 10 to that Congressman or Congresswomen ( not all at once ).   The club having the event should determine which Congressman or Congresswomen in their area that has not signed on in support of HR 2550 and target them.  If all CBYCA clubs were to partake in this I am sure we would catch the eye of many more than what we have so far.

I am planning on appointing a Delegate to spearhead this for us and he /she will be the contact for the clubs having the event / affair and will be responsible for getting the club these form letters.  In the case of the CBYCA , this task could be done by the District Reps possibly???.

I am also printing up form letters to be dropped off at Boaters World / West Marine and local boating supply stores asking them to please ask each customer to quickly fill out and sign.  They could then be picked up weekly and sent to Congressman and Congresswomen who have yet to sign on in support.

The cost in printing is nominal, and I am in the process of working on a deal which could make it even cheaper where CopyMax would charge us the price per copy at the 1000 copy rate even if we only require 100 copies.  I am sure the same deal can be worked out by someone in your local area.

Hopefully this plan will give us 1000's of form letters to send out to Congressmen and Congresswomen in our NJ / PA / DE / MD / VA area who have not signed on as co-sponsors to HR 2550.

I appreciate you all taking the time to read this and hope that even if you do not use the plan, it will at least strike up or spark ideas on how to gain the support of your local Congressman and Congresswomen for HR 2550.

Hope you all have a wonderful week-end and hope to see soon!
